Provoking IT from Good to Great
vSphere Capacity Management

vSphere Capacity Management
I gave a presentation on Wednesday at the Metron Seminar in London on vSphere and Capacity Management. The topics were:
- How virtualization is transforming IT
- vSphere Architecture and Features related to Capacity
- VCP and Capacity Managers
- vSphere Capacity Management Process/Methods
- Capacity Tools
Prior to my session, Paul Casey of Computacenter talked about the approaches and challenges of virtualization from a practitioners view. After my session, Rob Ford gave an ITIL view of enterprise capacity management. I think everyone enjoyed it, and the lunch afterwards, and several people told me that they had learned some valuable information.
I’m not sure when Metron will hold another of these sessions, but I encourage you to attend the next one if you are at all serious about enterprise virtualization: if you don’t do capacity management right, then you are reducing your ROI no matter how good a VCP you are
