Provoking IT from Good to Great
VDI voyeurism with vAudit

One of VMware Europe's early seeds
The master has done it again: this time, he’s written a neat utility called vAudit that lets you spy on your VDI users.
If you work in the virtualization in EMEA you must have heard of Daddy G (Richard Garsthagan). He’s VMware Europe’s Methuselah, having been around since even before my time as one of the original handful of ex-Citrix folks that kicked things off in Frimley.
You must also be aware of his blog site which is surely one of the longest running on VMware? His first post was in March 2005 and about the first HP Insight Management agent for ESX – how quaint! It’s like an IT equivalent of the Antique Roadshow!
Over the years Richard has written many a utility for your virtualization toolkit, and he’s done it again with vAudit
VMware View connection brokers log all user activity in the windows eventlog, as this is not an easy format to use (understatement) I wrote this utility. I will add some extra features in the near future. Working on displaying unsuccessful login attempts, so you can see if any serious intruders are trying to get access to your environment.
You can read his first beta post here, but he’s since released an update here.
Great work, Richard, as always… keep ‘em comin’!

Would like to see a full version of that screenshot. I can’t make out much in the version posted. Thank you, Jas

Looks great – I love utilities like these that give you a better view (no pun intended) into the environment rather than sifting through log files.
