Following on from Brad Hedlund’s awesome efforts in producing ten – that’s TEN – great short video’s on UCS networking, like all good plagiarists I thought I’d try and do something similar but in a whiteboard format.

The idea is that I show you how I would draw similar concepts to Brad’s videos on a whiteboard during something like a workshop.  You can then copy it, improve it, or take the jovial out of it: the choice is yours!

The first one is just a sub-three minute overview of UCS networking.  It’s real simple, like me.

If you think this format is useful, please let me know.  If you think it’s rubbish, keep it to yourself (no, only kidding, just be gentle with me – I bruise easily!) :-)

Seriously, if you think it’s useful I’ll do more on a whole range of topics.

Check it out on Vimeo – plus here are links to the actual slides (.key) (.ppt)

For iPad users, and those who can’t play flash, there’s a HTML5 player link at the bottom of the video:

Great job Steve, would love to see more on different subjects.

  2. Thanks, John! ANy particular ones? I was thinking of complementing Brad’s stuff, but also doing something on virtual switches with the myriad of options vs. the ones that do you just fine…

Come on Steve. I spend a lot of money on my really cool iPad. I can’t see the video – darrn iPad.
I’ll check it out in the morning behind a MAC. :-)

    Steve,
Before I even clicked on this I knew it was going to be good! I love how each object is drawn out line by line. What program did you use to create this awesome whiteboard style video? Power Point?
Yes, I want to see more!!

    Cheers,
    Brad

    Steve,

Great job here and by Brad on his blog. You’re both upping the content ante and making the blog format extremely useful from a technical perspective. I’d love to see a couple of white board sessions on VDI benefits with UCS, and deploying VDI on UCS. Would also love to see you go at VMware DPM and show how to use UCS to utilize those CPU cycles 24/7.

    Steve,

Very good. Clear and articulate. You should do more of these.

For those who want more detail then I recommend the Cisco Press book “A Complete Reference Guide to Cisco Data Center Virtualization Server Architecture” (sic ;-) by Gai, Salli Anderson.

    Ian.

  7. Thanks, Ian! Apparently Silvano, Tommi and Roger all got paid on the number of letters they could get in the title ;-)

  8. I did a DPM deck last night, but it needs some more numbers in it… as for VDI benefits on UCS I think instead it’s “doing VDI with Cisco” that’s the right thing… did I show you my VDI Iceberg slide…
